Isnanto ., Prasetyowati S.

Abstract

Background: Nutrition is important for the development of teeth. This early development is influenced by calcium, fluorine, phosphorous, and vitamins. The amount of nutrition for toddlers is different compared to adults, because toddlers need more nutrition for growth and development. The availability of food or food security is crucial in toddler’s nutritional status. Poor nutritional  status can slow the eruption of teeth and calcification process. Vitamin D plays a big role on eruption of teeth, development of the jaw.

Materials and Methods: This was an analytical cross sectional study. The subjects for this study was 25 toddlers age 9 months to 16 months who had experienced lateral incisive eruption. This study took place at Puskesmas (Community Health Center) Bugul Kidul Pasuran. Data was collected using a check list and was analysed using Spearman’s  Correlation.

Result: All 25 subjects (100%) were in short nutritional status. The majority of the subjects had slow incisor eruption (19 toddlers, 76%), 1 subject (4%) had fast incisor eruption, and 5 subjects (20%) had slow incisor eruption.

Conclusion: Stunting in toddlers at  Community Health Center Bugul Kidul Pasuran doesn’t affect the eruption of incisor.
